Bolts of fabric line the shelves, bringing forth a lovely pop of colour against the plain walls. Mannequins fashioned with chic suits and dresses stand posing; you feel like you're being watched as you approach the counter. But the storefront is empty...[break][break] "Hello...?" you call out. Goosebumps prickle your skin and you shiver in the cold. Can the AC blast any harder here? You brush it off. You heard that the owner does good work, and that outweighs all other rumours, including--[break][break] The proprietress, Marin, emerges from another room, heavy fabric scissors in hand. They snip shut with a fierceness, causing you to flinch. Her pale gaze sweeps over you from the top of your head to the tips of your shoes before landing last on your face. She crosses her arms.[break][break] "Can I help you?" comes the monotone reply. Is she mad at you?[break][break] "Oh, uh--I'm looking to get a custom piece done..."[break][break] A stiff silence builds between you two. Eventually she raises a brow and her voice lightens up, as if she's amused by you. "Are you going to elaborate?"[break][break] Oh. Duh, of course! You scramble for your pockets, prepared for this. You pull out a paper and handed it to her. You had sketched out your idea by hand, but you don't have the skill of a seamstress to put it together. So here you are.[break][break] Marin takes the paper and looks at it wordlessly, leaving you to squirm uncomfortably in the dead silence again, until a small noise interrupts the room.[break][break] You look at her and see that she's smirking at your paper. Did she just laugh at you? You feel your face burn in embarrassment. Okay, you're not a fashion designer, or an artist by any means, but--[break][break] "Okay," she says as the paper landed onto the table with a flutter. "I'll have it ready in three weeks."[break][break] "Oh, uh, you sure?" you ask, bewildered. "Do you need to me to specify some details on the--"[break][break] "No, I got it." She prefers that you pay the first half of the deposit anyway. You try to give her your name for pick up later, but she waves you off. [break][break] "I already have a name for you. Ta-ta."
