[nospaces] [attr="class","questcont"] [attr="class","questname"]dear god, dear hunger [attr="class","queststats"] [attr="class","questh"]BASICS [break] participants: variable depending on sign-ups.[break] threads: one.[break] sponsor: spontaneous.[break] objective: survive.[break] danger level: it's bad bestie[break] moderation: i'll save u the trouble :donotsee:[break][break] [attr="class","questh"]PREMISE [break] THERE ARE SOME THINGS THE WATER CANNOT CLEAN. [break] a rift takes several hundred years to close. in its death throes, it dreams.[break][break] the townsfolk will tell you, it's like a ritual. every ten years or so, sometimes more, sometimes less — this time, it's overdue. aelmor has its storms, its hungers, its monsters. no gods, though. it's not that kind of place. but when the thunder rolls in and the shoreline chokes with things that should have stayed at the bottom of the sea, everyone always prays to someone.[break][break] the living seldom help them. they have themselves, and they have ghosts.[break][break] history is a circular staircase. every story starts the same way: someone goes on a journey, or a stranger comes into town.[break][break] welcome to aelmor, stranger. we hope you have a pleasant stay.[break][break] [attr="class","questh"]PLAYER PARTICIPATION [break] [attr="class","questscroll"]WHAT IS THIS?[break] a small, member-run event set in the little seaside town of aelmor. honestly, it's just a very indulgent way of going about serafim's personal quest.[break][break]
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?[break] the abyssal hunters get a personal invitation. otherwise, anyone whose characters can feasibly be in the area for unrelated reasons. aelmor is a small town on the southwest coast of salem, close to the vale. most people hardly know it's there, and the cad passes by it without ceremony. frequent sailors are familiar with the dangers of both its waters and its shores, but when the storms get bad enough, any harbour becomes a safe one.[break][break]
WHAT DO I GET OUT OF THIS?[break] a (hopefully) fun, horror-themed adventure with a collaborative slant, inspired by all the cool ttrpgs i've seen over the years, featuring strange daemons and stranger dreams. an excuse to explore a setting i like to call Very Haunted Village, i.e. a staple of indie horror games.[break][break]
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY COLLABORATIVE?[break] i like to be an enabler! get your characters thinking about the skeletons in their closet, et cetera. when the adventure begins, tell me about someone in your character's past. they can be dead or alive, but ideally, this person carries some sort of emotional weight for your character, whether it is good or bad.[break][break]
CAN I GET A CLUE ABOUT WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN?[break] for some reason or other, you've found yourself in aelmor. perhaps you were headed to the vale. perhaps you are one of the very few visitors aelmor tends to get, though why you're making a habit of this is another question entirely. perhaps you are a hunter — aelmor certainly has its fair share of monsters.[break][break]
whatever the case, the storm starts at dawn, forcing you to seek shelter. it does not let up. you cannot leave the village.[break][break]
for three days, it rains.[break][break]
for three days, you are stuck in a nightmare.
