ACTIVITY CHECK[attr="class","staffpara"] It's been a while! This ACTIVITY CHECK will clear the Discord of inactive accounts. Please be sure to post before JANUARY 15TH.Major Setting Patch[attr="class","staffpara"] Welcome to the biggest DLC since presets! [break][break] As a consequence of our settings patch, Delphi is, in general, much larger. We believe this version of our beloved little city-state is much truer to our original intentions. When we first opened the site last January, starting out with the vast setting of our dreams felt risky and overwhelming. But the site has grown beyond our imaginations, and we felt this "expansion" only makes sense due to the sheer volume and variety of plots and characters that have made their home on our site. [break][break] Thank you for staying with us! It's been a wonderful year. [break][break] While we won't go over everything that's been adjusted in our new boards, here are some major setting "retcons" that you should be aware of: [break] { settings update highlights}
Delphi is now filled with different sectors, districts, and subregions that have their own unique cultures and points of interest. [break][break] The docks area has been expanded into western Delphi / "Old Delphi". The "docks" is now the westernmost area within Old Delphi. [break][break] Oracle University has been relocated from the residential area to the downtown area (or "central Delphi"). It is now much more a city-campus, similar to NYU or Columbia in real life, rather than a suburban campus as it was before. [break][break] Delphi is a thriving industrial economy, and a new Industrial Zone has been added to the ever-expanding southern Delphi to reflect this! [break][break] Pythia, our beloved island satellite, has been moved so that it hovers above the West Salem Sea instead of the Residential Area. It provides a cool view for locals and tourists watching the sunset from the beach. [break][break]
Northern Delphi has expanded, the Cerulean District has been added, the Residential Areas are moved further south, and the Lorraine Valley subregion is its own subboard..[break][break] Please do take the time to look through our new boards, and please ask staff if you would like any of your current threads moved to a different location. We've tried our best to match threads to where they would likely be, but we're so sorry for any inconveniences caused by our movement of threads. [break][break] Here's to a wider world...even though it likely still won't be enough for our resident speedrunners! You guys are insane (affectionate). LOREBOOK[attr="class","staffpara"] Can anyone really summarize the amount of things that have gone on since the site's inception? Probably not. But we're going to make an honest effort! [break][break] Our Encyclopedia has been transformed into a Lorebook. All original lore threads and rule explanations are still visible and able to be referenced in the archive. Thank you to Lav and Cila for making this possible. [break][break] First, the explanation of rules and the magic system has been somewhat streamlined into a single guidebook thread located in the Encyclopedia. Our rules thread now features several QOL suggestions, like an MP guide and a better breakdown of the gold system. [break][break] The setting, factions information, timeline, NPCs page have been moved to the Lorebook. The NPC page now contains a useful recap of relevant events. The new timeline and new lore FAQ page are both a work-in-porgress. [break][break] All previous rules threads continue to be available for reference as staff sorts out the kinks in the new, streamlined rules pages.Magic Compendium[attr="class","staffpara"] Replacing our domain thread(s) is the new Magic Compendium. Find all magic and spell information in one place! Shoutout to Lav for his work on this! [break][break] All previous domain threads will continue to be available for reference as staff sorts out the kinks in the new, streamlined compendium page. Skin & template updates[attr="class","staffpara"] The features on our testing skin are now merged with our regular skin. Everyone has now been moved to the "testing skin." Several QOL updates have been made, including: [break][break] - A revamped quicklinks bar.
A built-in rotating hover system. Thanks to Lav, who wrote the code! There is no need to use randimg anymore--just paste in your images with a space inbetween each link to make it a rotating hover. More detailed instructions can be found in the pinned comment in #ask on discord. - In addition, posting templates have been streamlined. The default blockquote has been upgraded, and Lav's posting template code has been simplified.
- All official templates can now be found in one spot, the templates hub
- Text sizes can now be adjusted. This is compatible with the new posting template, blockquote, and staff template.
Charms update[attr="class","staffpara"] So sorry in advance to Night (and Kimmy). [break][break] Enchantment has received a major update, mostly pertaining to spatial manipulation & abjuration/runes. Unfortunately, Abjuration is still not out of its Beta phase. Pan is anticipating one more patch to the subdomain before it's ready to remove it's training wheels. Please go to the magic update thread for more details and compensation! Spell Approval Process Update[attr="class","staffpara"] The spell approval process has been streamlined. The World Building board now no longer exists, and the approval thread has been moved to The Bazaar homepage. It now outlines what to expect regarding the spell approval process. [attr="class","staffbody"] [attr="class","staffheadimg"] Code Round-up[attr="class","staffpara"] Hello, hello! The intern is back from PTO, so here's the round-up of skin and code changes implemented over Update 4.0:
TEMPLATES HUB FEATURES[attr="class","staffpara"] All commonly-used site templates will be stored in the Site Templates board. These templates have been integrated into the overall site code — there will be minimal additional code needed to use them, and additional instructions will be provided there if necessary.[break][break] Blockquotes and the Post2 template now auto-bold text according to member group colours. It remains compatible with existing over-ride codes for bold text, so not to worry if you prefer to use a colour that isn't necessarily your character's coven colour! Also, dice rolls now have a new look to them! These work best within blockquotes or against a dark background. The template thread will be updated with additional variations for increased compatibility and customisation on an as-requested basis.[break][break] Custom spoiler codes for all your tl;dr needs, as well as a simplified texting template, are also available within the site templates board. Go check it out![break][break] Member-created codes remain available in the coding corner. If there are certain codes you'd like streamlined, feel free to tag me directly in the discord channel with your request.[break][break] Some behind-the-scenes changes have happened as well, such as tidying up code, and improving loading time for images, which should hopefully help considering our image-heavy site! This brings us to the next point, which is… In-Built Hover Rotating System[attr="class","staffpara"] …the result of four cups of coffee and post-thesis adrenaline. To work around long randimg loading times, the in-built rotating system should be able to randomise a hover from a list of links provided.[break][break]
To use it, just put the URLs of the images into the field labelled Rotating Hovers in your profile, and separate each with a space. It will override the image in the original Hover Image field.
Accessibility & More[attr="class","staffpara"] Text-sizes can be adjusted using the button on the upper-left of the navigation bar. This is compatible with the new posting template (post2), blockquotes, and staff templates. If you want another template to be added to this, feel free to tag me directly in #ask or the #code-reqs thread in #mod-me.[break][break]
Also, did you know Moonrise has a stealth mode? For all your posting-in-class needs — the little slider next to the text adjustment button will temporarily disable most images to create a text-focused page.
