The Lim Clan originated from a small village, deep in the heart of nature, a single unwavering stone in the whirlwinds of society. Jae's parents, eyes glinting with the prospect of more riches and fame, knew that they would have to depart the village to achieve such dreams. When Jae was barely able to walk, but strong enough to hold a sword, they departed with reluctant farewells and promises to visit. Venturing to the world unknown did not fill them with fear, but with excitement.

The Vale swept them into its abyss, where there was once proud standing tree, was now a concrete jungle that one could barely breathe in. They worked in shadows, while the city was quiet, like foxes hunting for prey. The luxuries they dreamed of came slowly. Quietly. But it soon paid off, with gold adorned walls and a jeweler's hand on call, they had become more than they had ever imagined. The Lims adapted to their surroundings well, and they passed this knowledge onto their son.

Groomed into the perfect son, Jae easily assumed the position of his patriarch. Such was the language of his reality. Gold, sometimes stained crimson with blood, passed through gloved hands easily. And if it wasn't, the blade of his sword would be more than acceptable. He was an orchestrator of order, a warrior who brought a means to an end. If that is what his family required, then so it shall be done.

And yet, despite for all that he was careful, and all that he covered his tracks, Jae could not escape the consequences that the family had laid upon him. A betrayer with a loose tongue had unveiled all their secrets, and Jae was the designated scapegoat. His matriarch had looked at him with dew stained cheeks and kissed him goodbye while they swept him away, never to be seen again.

Beheadings were common among those who stalked the shadows, and that was to be Jae's fate. A sacrifice to be made for the family's sins, would it be enough for a clan more vicious than his?

When the sword raised, blade illuminated by the moon's reflection, Jae only shut his eyes and accepted his fate. But his familiar, who had always possessed a streak of fire and violence, summoned flames that bit and burned at him and his oppressors.

Fire danced gleefully around Jae, and he broke free from the chains of his attackers. Singed hands drew his sword, and with soulless eyes, a single slash was all it took to create a slain man. The sky had wept at the sight, carrying away blood that was not his, and feeding it into the earthen soil that he had once been so familiar with. Though the target on his back was not gone. He shed his his fox-skin life in Vale and fled to Delphi, never to return.
