[attr="class","staffbody"] [attr="class","staffheadimg"] injury-enabled event faqs[attr="class","staffpara"]
Q. What does "injury-enabled" mean, exactly?[break] - When you join an injury-enabled event, you must agree that your character may suffer from a permanent, severe injury (such as limboss, eye loss, etc.) [break][break] Q. Uh oh! How can I avoid that?[break] - Typically, if your character plays it safe and concentrates on healing their wounds instead of aggravating them when they occur, you should be fine. Events with a HIGH RISK for severe injury are less forgiving. Also, pray to RNG! [break][break] Q. Can my character die during an event?[break] - No, unless you want them to! There's nothing like going out with a bang, but staff won't make that decision for you.[break][break]
Q. How do events typically run?[break] - Events, especially dangerous ones, will have a 5-day sign up period. Your character(s)' inventory will be locked before the event begins, and your reward will typically be based on consistently posting throughout the rounds. For injury-enabled events, you will be expected to roll for the outcome of your actions.[break][break]
injury-enabled event general guidelines
During an event, the consequences of your rolls + actions are typically determined in the order of:[break][break]
STAFF DISCRETION >>>>[break]
CIRCUMSTANCES/RISK TAKEN > RANK > ROLL > RELATIVE RANK/ROLL[break][break]
Risk taken and the general circumstance comes before anything. If you are attempting, for example, an electricity-based spell while swimming, there's no real way to get out of that bind. On the other hand, if you take very little risks, you may not find yourself under a great deal of pressure. Certain situations may favour brute force, whereas others will spotlight clever utility and problem-solving. Let your character's skillset and creativity shine![break][break]
tl;dr Your action determines your *consequence*.[break][break]
Your "absolute rank" comes before/concurrent with your roll. To put this into perspective, a nat-100 success by an initiate will still pale in comparison to a nat-100 success by a master. As your character's rank increases, they wouldn't, for example, fail to cast a spell under pressure, or screw up a basic maneuver. It's also most important during PVP.[break][break]
tl;dr Your rank determines the *scope* of your actions.[break][break]
Your roll will alter your luck and success to various degrees. No matter what you do, there's always a chance for incredible success or incredible failure. Bad rolls combined with high risks are often a recipe for injury. Conversely, great rolls and high risks can turn the tides of battle, even when the odds are stacked against you...[break][break]
tl;dr Your roll determines your *performance*, and may sometimes exceed the scope of your ability. [break][break] Relative rank/relative roll is the last but not the least-- when different members are vying for different things to happen, staff will determine who succeeds loosely based on their ranks and rolls relative to eachother. [break][break]
tl;dr You're not the only one whose actions, rolls, and ranks matter[break][break]
final notes from staff
Above all, have fun! Events are fun because they put your characters in new and challenging situations, and rarely ever does anyone come out of them unscathed. Expect to succeed, to fail, and expect a lot of unexpected twists and turns. Each round will present new challenges and opportunities, and certain obstacles will favour certain actions or skillsets. We're always excited to put on crazy, chaotic events for you all, and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
