a PhD student in desperate need of some guidance. beneath her collected exterior, she has been suffering with severe self-esteem issues to do with her magic for years, to the point it now affects her competence as a witch. after the disastrous Novice Exchange Program, the possession of her familiar by a daemon has left her shaken beyond belief, exacerbated by the probation that her coven had placed her on. returning to her homeland in the vale, she has spent time recuperating and mostly laying low as her family takes care of her. now unsure of where she stands in Cerberus and the opinion of her covenmates, she is at a loss of what to do and where to go in life. many things weigh on her mind and she is suffocating...

Sylvaine is the only daughter and future heir of the House of Vaillancourt, an ancient noble family that is seated in the Vale. She is a woman under immense pressure, despite her birth and the little load she carries in comparison to other scions. There are many things she stresses about unbeknownst to most people, and collectively the stress has begun taking its toll. She holds high expectations for all she meets, but they are even higher for herself, not that she would ever let someone know.
[break][break]To most, Sylvaine is mostly unflappable and someone who looks reliable and responsible. Frankly, she would rather not bother with anyone else's problems, but her innate kindness often lends some warmth to her actions. Respectful of others, she carries all of the grace and decorum of a woman of her status which helps in remaining as neutral as she possibly can.
[break][break]There is an immediate danger in Sylvaine stemming from the magic that courses through her veins. An explosive Pyros user, her calm demeanour does nothing to warn of the sparks that glow beneath her fingers. A dreadfully sore topic, the matter of her trust in her own abilities has been a core challenge to her very existence and threatens to consume her whole. Mostly unwilling to use magic, Sylvaine has resigned herself to a near-human state of being, out of fear of herself. Often she finds herself at odds with the decision to use her flames, because of the uncertainty of their intensity. It is suspected that her emotions play a significant role in the heat of her flames and their destructiveness... What is the power of a girl who has suppressed herself behind a stoic face and refuses to budge?
