CYCLE 004: YOUR HEART'S GOT TEETH
[attr="class","staffbody"] [attr="class","staffheadimg"] hydra - bibamus, moreindum est. [attr="class","staffpara"]THIS MISSION CYCLE ENDS MAY 20TH. YOU MAY NOT MAKE NEW THREADS AFTER THAT TIME.[break][break]
*** THIS IS A "SPECIAL MISSION" -- such missions will occur in a single group thread that goes on for the cycle. Learn more in the IC thread for this mission here. [break][break] A Hydra tradition more commonly referred to these days as Pasta Night (why *pasta* specifically remains to be known, although you could surely ask), "Bibamus Moreindum Est" is both a farewell and a beginning, a gathering of local Hydra operatives to saw farewell to a safehouse that has served its purpose.[break][break]
Originally, it was done when Hydra burned down old ships to retire them. During the war, a more hurried version of the tradition was done to say farewell to abandoned strongholds. Today, it is done when a safehouse or base of operations must be cleared out, either at the end of a successful operation or because it has drawn suspicion and needs to be removed. [break][break] Essentially, Hydra operatives are notified and are freely able to come and go throughout the day and well into the night, receiving free food that is homecooked at the location, some alcohol, and a promise of meeting old friends or seeing new faces. It is typically a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, where stories are shared more freely and people's guards are down. [break][break] After all, it is rare to get a chance to meet people you all know for sure share your secret, share your blood, prove that you are not insane. [break][break] There is usually a quiet and mildly foreboding sense of respect for history, and the experience can be at once eye-opening and humbling for newer recruits. As witches get older and have been to more of these, they tend to be more relaxed and open. [break][break] It is essentially a funeral for a place that no longer exists -- which is the text that Hydra receives: [break][break] MYCA - "LIGHTHOUSE 9" - WILL BE LAID TO REST. JUNE 20th.[break] Code: Pasta Night.[break] - The Leviathan[break][break]
"Lighthouse 9" upon arrival is very clearly not a lighthouse -- it's a medium-sized two-story home in the middle of the desert, some miles away from the nearest bazaar off the edge of Myca City.[break][break]
Inside, it is etched with runes and photographs from years past, but it also seems like it has seen a fair bit of use, unlike the one that Maddox and Ha-Yoon found themselves in after the Cad Takeover -- there is no layer of dust, the shelves are freshly stocked.[break][break]
When your character arrives, it already has some groups of people, most of them much older, with evidence that they have been working in the desert for quite some time: sand in their hair, sunburns across their skin.[break][break]
There is warm food, idle conversation -- the young ones attract attention and a few curious stares, but for the most part, you are left to your own devices...perhaps you should strike up a conversation.
